The Haines Family: An Adoption Story

This spring I had the absolute pleasure of photographing two wonderful children as they were adopted by the equally wonderful Haines Family.

The Somervell County Courthouse was fill with “A Village” of friends and family who continuously surrounded the Haines Family with prayer, love, and support throughout this process. There was standing room only as we awaited their turn on the docket. The air was filled with both excitement and anxiousness from all while the children and their soon-to-be parents received hugs and positive words from their visitors.

Today is the day…

Finally, it was their turn. The anxiety turned to excitement as everyone quietly filled the courtroom and the judge continued to hear other cases. They were next. Soon their little family of three would officially become a happy group of five.

The judge invited the Haines Family and everyone in their Village up to the bench. He asked everyone to raise their right hand and serve as witness to the wonderful testament of this moment - this family. Everyone was unanimously in support of The Haines Family’s adoption.

And just like that, these two children received a new last name. They were officially, as recognized by the State of Texas, members of the Haines Family.

We commemorated this monumental event in all of their lives with photos of “The Village” - the people who helped the Haines Family reach this day with great celebration and support. And of course…

Their first family photo.

Congratulations, Haines Family! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day!
