Golden Portraits

This week I picked up a portrait frame order for a client and a set of picture new frame samples in the new colors and moulding designs.

My bestie, San Antonio interior designer Courtney Balsam, shared a few 2018 home decor trends on Instagram the other day and gold continues to hold strong.  She is ever so right and my framing supplier is keeping up with a handful of sleek, gilded options to turn your photos into designer wall art visitors to your home with definitely notice and be green with envy..

Now, I have never been one to follow trends closely, especially when it comes to anything from clothing options to home decor and these days, not even my photographs.

The trend in photography the last few years has been light, bright, and airy.  Before that, bold, bright, saturated colors flooded the market followed by flat matte.  The next photo trend shift you will see is dark and moody. (That being my signature style,  I guess I'm a trendsetter.)

Trends change and they change fast.

Because of this, I only give you simple, classic styles so your photos and frames will always be trendy and stylish no mater how many times you change your home decor.. .

Christian Dior designed the first pencil skirt in 1954 and it is still a classic go to in many colors from movie stars to business women.  That's 64 years of classic love that lasts. When it comes to home decor, this love of style and quality should apply to your photographs and memories, because to you, they will never go out of style..

Personally, I have never considered gold a trend that swayed from classic, high-end style.  It is always elegant, a sign of decadence and class.

Incorporating a few gold accents to your decor adds a little luxury to your home but using the color can be tricky.  Courtney recommends staying with closely related hues to create a cohesive palette and limit gold items to only a few if your home style is a clean or more casual design.

Our professional gold photo frames are the perfect option to add simple accents of lux to your home without overwhelming your space or risking spending money on something you won’t like.

Frosted options tone down the sheen for a rich look for those who want to keep more of a casual feel.  For a more modern, feminine vibe, rose gold is continues to be the metallic of choice. Paired with our thick white cotton mats, your portraits will not only grab attention but also give your walls the same look and feel of a professional gallery.

We recommend our custom cut archival frames over box store retail options as the materials and build while hole up to rowdy kids and accidental brush ups. . Rather than thin, plated metal and barely soldered corners, our frames are built with strong and heavy-duty molding with thick corner brackets to ensure your frames will hold up for generations without bending or chipping. And if you have young kids and boys who love to throw balls and other toys in the house, not to worry - you can choose UV acrylic in our frames so a rogue football won’t break them.
