Enough, moms!

I love a good mom blog, don't you?

The funny stories of child antics and our sarcastic responses that we would never actually say to them are not only relatable, they give us the sense that we aren't alone in this parenting adventure.

Here lately, these blogs have downright disappointed me, and sometimes just make me angry! Instead of dirty diaper wall art stories, the movie Mean Girls: The Reunion Project is being published in words.  Bloggers are writing hateful, judgmental rants about other moms and the "team" they are on - single vs married; career moms vs stay-at-homers; free-range vs helicopter; discipline vs free spirit; organic gluten free vs store brand budget...the list goes on and on.

And it sucks.

This parenting thing is hard! The original definition of 'it takes a village' has been run out of town.  Society is hard on parents as it is, both moms and dads, we shouldn't be helping it with our own viral word.  Moms are expected to do everything - the dishes, the laundry, the cooking, the child raising, school volunteer, blah, blah, blah and more blah. If you spend your time as a stay-at-home mom doing all those household things, you are questioned as to why you don't do more with your life.  If you have a career, you are berated for not being involved enough. BY OTHER MOMS!!!

Enough!

Enough… is enough!  It's time we stop pitting ourselves against each other and realize that doing the best we can, the best way we know how, is enough. Being enough for your children, your family, is enough.

God gives us enough.

Enough strength, enough grace, enough so that you may have everything you need and excel in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8-12  Do Good Work.

Give each other enough. Enough credit, enough support, enough love, and enough understanding to know that we are on the same team. Let's stop with the hateful blog posts, the judgemental statements, and the teams. We're tearing each other down!  If you see something in a Facebook post you don't agree with, keep scrolling.  Don't "share" your opinion of  what is wrong just for the sake of it. Your opinions are not facts and do not need to be heard by everyone.  Don't screen shot something you don't agree with and turn it into a viral scandal.  Worry about yourself!

Instead, let's pat our fellow moms on the back and say 'Good job, mama! You got this.' Smile at the mom grabbing the high fructose corn syrup fruit snacks with the crazy-wild three-year-old.  Share a pumpkin spiced latte with the yoga pants mom who isn't going to the gym, and high five the mom who squats in the ordering line.  Single moms, encourage your married mom friends when they’re on their own for a night, and married moms, lend your single mom friends a hand.

Because mom-ing is hard.

Because you are enough to do good work.

much love, alex
